Our Project:

An Aluminium Bodied

Classic Mini Build

With Separate Chassis

Made to 4/5ths Scale!!!

Our Youtube channel: @bCosWeCan

So, the first stage on this journey is to use a rotted out classic Mini bodyshell as a buck upon which to practice and get proficient in shaping the body panels from 1.6mm thick aluminium sheets. Using those panels we will construct a full bodyshell in aluminium. It will then need a separate steel chassis to put the strength back in. This is where we will start.

However, due to limited space we have also chosen to make it 4/5ths the size of an original Mini (in all 3 axis) !

See the "A Bit of Background" page above for more info on why, but basically it's   b Cos We Can  :-)

At bCosWeCan, we have a mission:

To design and build our own car.

But first we have to acquire some new skills, such as:

  • Metalshaping
  • Scanning
  • 3D modelling
  • Aluminium tig welding.
